General Thermometer FAQs
Question: What is my Braun Thermometer warranty?
Answer: This 3-year limited warranty applies to repair or replacement of product found to be defective in material or workmanship. This warranty does not apply to damage resulting from commercial, abusive, unreasonable use or supplemental damage. Defects that are the result of normal wear and tear will not be considered manufacturing defects under this warranty
Question: What should I do if my thermometer is displaying an Err message?
Answer: This will occur if the ambient temperature is not within the allowed operating range (50 – 104 °F or 10 – 40 °C.) In order to resolve this, we would recommend you allow the thermometer to remain for 30 minutes in a room where the temperature is between 50 and 104 °F or 10 and 40 °C.
Question: What does a flashing display or no display mean when I turn on my thermometer?
Answer:
A flashing display indicates a system error. We suggest waiting 1 minute until the thermometer turns off by itself and then turns on again. If the problem persists, reset the thermometer by removing the batteries momentarily.
Question: What are the benefits to using a forehead thermometer? How do they work?
Answer: Similar to non-contact thermometers, a forehead thermometer is a quick and fuss-free way of measuring a child’s temperature that measures the infrared heat waves emitted thru the surface of the skin. The main difference is that you need to gently touch the center of the forehead to take a reading. It is a great choice for young squirmy children that are feeling under the weather.
Question: What are the benefits to using an ear thermometer?
Answer: The ear is a good site for temperature measurement because it reflects the core temperature of the body(1). Body temperature is regulated by the hypothalamus(2), which shares the same blood supply as the tympanic membrane(3). This means changes in core body temperature are usually detected sooner in the tympanic membrane than other areas. All Braun infrared ear thermometers feature ThermoScan® technology, which measure heat generated by the eardrum and surrounding tissue to give an accurate temperature on an easy to read digital display in seconds.

Question: Are Braun lens filters BPA free?
Answer: Yes, Braun disposable lens filters are BPA & latex free.
Question: How do I use Braun lens filters?
Answer: To avoid inaccurate measurements ALWAYS use this thermometer with a new, clean lens filter attached.
If the thermometer is accidentally used without a lens filter attached, clean the lens.
The lens filter indicator will blink to signal one is needed.
Attach a new lens filter by pushing the thermometer probe straight into the lens filter inside the box and then pulling out.
Note: The Braun ThermoScan® will not work unless a lens filter is attached.
For the next measurement, press Eject button to remove and discard used lens filter, and put on a new, clean lens filter. For models without and eject button (ThermoScan® 3 and 4), pull off lens filter and discard.
Question: How do I store my thermometer?
Answer: Store thermometer and lens filters in a dry location free from dust and contamination and away from direct sunlight. Always store the thermometer with the protective cap or with the cradle in place to prevent dirt and scratches from damaging the device.
Do not store this thermometer in temperature extremes below -13 °F or over 131 °F or in excessive humidity (above 95% relative humidity).
If thermometer is stored in a location that is cooler or warmer than where it will be used, allow it to acclimate to the room temperature for 10 minutes before taking the measurement.
Question: Do Braun thermometers come with lens filters?
Answer: Yes. Lens filters are included with all our Ear thermometers. Please use a new lens filter after each use for an accurate reading.
Question: Do all Braun thermometers take the same size lens filter?

Question: What is Age Precision™ Technology?
Answer: Clinical research shows the definition of fever changes as newborns grow into children & children grow into adults. The Age Precision feature takes the guesswork out of temperature taking, allowing you to select the appropriate age setting – 0-3 months, 3-36 months or 36+ months.
Question: What is Fever Guidance?
Answer: Temperature guidance helps you to better understand the meaning of your child’s temperature with the color indicated on the display. The screen displays a green, yellow, or red backlight depending on the temperature reading.
It is important to note that a patient’s temperature may be impacted by age, gender or medical condition, or by factors such as ambient temperature, time of day, medications taken or the temperature measurement site.
Question: What is ExacTemp™
Answer: ExacTemp™ is a guidance system that confirms good position in the ear with a light and a beep to ensure accurate temperature measurement.
