How to tell if Your Baby is Sick?

Source: Thinking Outside The Sandbox Family

As a Mother you need to know how to tell if your Baby is sick and what to do about it.

What are the Signs Your Baby is Sick?

Mothers get to know the normal behaviour of their Baby quickly and can recognize when something is not right.

It is important to know what to look for and have the best tools available to get your answers and get them quickly.

Most Doctor’s agree that a fever or high temperature is the most common indicator of how to tell if your Baby is sick.

Not recognizing and acting on a high fever can be dangerous. It is important to get your Baby to the Pediatrician when the fever is over 101.5°F/38.61°C (but let your Doctor decide).

How do I take my Baby’s Temperature and what are my Options?

Let’s take a step back in time.

Mercury-in-glass thermometer

Doctors do not recommend using Mercury-in-glass thermometer as there are too many risks in terms of breakage and difficulty reading them.

Digital stick thermometer

I do not recommend you use digital stick thermometers orally.

Digital stick thermometers are only recommended to be used rectally or under the armpit.

You must be very careful to clean these digital stick thermometers before and after each use.

The rectal method is recommended with two people doing it which is not practical or convenient.

I can’t wait for my Husband to come home to take a temperature! ????

My 8-month-old Son is constantly moving and always active when he’s awake.

You can see in my video how much he moves around so I can’t keep the digital stick thermometer under his arm for more than a second.

I can’t be sure I am taking a good reading with these digital stick thermometers. ????

The Braun Solution

So, we know the traditional ways of taking a temperature are now either not recommended or not easy to do and don’t assure you how to tell if your Baby is sick.

Enter Braun premium Baby thermometer options; Braun No Touch + Forehead Thermometer and the Braun ThermoScan 5 Ear Thermometer.

You can’t beat these solutions coming from a premium provider like Braun and both Braun No Touch + Forehead Thermometer and Braun ThermoScan 5 Ear Thermometer available on Amazon.

I can tell you what I am giving as shower gifts this spring LOL. You can’t go wrong with one of these Braun premium Baby thermometer options.

Braun No Touch + Forehead thermometer

I was so impressed with the Braun No Touch + Forehead Thermometer.

I have a very busy 8-month-old who is a moving target!

Despite having a baby who would not stay still, it was so easy to take the reading.

I appreciate both the ‘Touch’ and ‘No Touch’ technology and that you could turn the sound off.

This feature will be very perfect to take temperatures when the baby is sleeping.

Braun No Touch + Forehead thermometer

Braun No Touch + Forehead Thermometer also has a yellow light which is a sensor that helps guide you – another excellent feature!

Another feature that I am so happy with is the colour indicator.

A normal temperature is green, an elevated temperature is yellow and a fever is red.

This leaves no questions about whether baby has a fever or not!

I can see that this will be my go-to thermometer!

It is so fast and the colour indicator is a great feature that I haven’t come across in other thermometers that I’ve owned.

In the past, I’ve always had to Google the reading to confirm a fever.

The colour indicator takes away that step which will allow me to tend to my baby faster.

Braun ThermoScan 5 Ear Thermometer

The Braun ThermoScan 5 Ear thermometer is another excellent option.

It takes the reading fast and, in my opinion, very accurate.

I appreciate that it has a memory button to see what the previous temperature was.

When your baby has a fever, you tend to take the temperature throughout the day and night to see whether it is rising or falling.

Braun No Touch + Forehead Thermometer

Having the last read temperature on-screen means I can quickly determine if the next reading is higher or lower.

It should be noted that this product is not accurate with newborns.

Also, a disposable cover is required before inserting into baby’s ear.

A box of 20 disposable covers comes included in the package and when those are done you will need to purchase more.

After using both thermometers, I can say that I was very impressed with both.

They both have amazing features!

Overall, they are both provide accurate information quickly and that is what you need to learn how to tell if your baby is sick.

I encourage you to check out both the Braun ThermoScan 5 and Braun No Touch + Forehead thermometers for more information.
