To ensure the accuracy of the temperature reading a new clean lens filter should be used for every measurement. A lens filter protects the lens from scratches and impurities which otherwise might affect the accuracy.

Place a new lens filter on the thermometer tip before each measurement.
Measure temperature with lens filter fitted on thermometer tip.
Throw away the used lens filter after each measurement. Eject it by pressing on the button below the thermometer tip.
